Résumé
Les auteurs rapportent une observation de thrombose intra auriculaire gauche en période néonatale suite à la pose d’un cathéter ombilical pour infection néonatale. La mauvaise position du cathéter au niveau du cœur et la fragilité des vaisseaux à cet âge jouent un rôle important dans la survenue des thromboses intracardiaques. Le diagnostic a été fait à l’échocardiographie-doppler. Le thrombus a complètement disparu au bout de deux mois sans complication.
En Afrique la pose de cathéter ombilical est une pratique courante de réanimation néonatale. Toutefois ce geste est fréquemment réalisé sans échocardiographie de contrôle de la position convenable du bout du cathéter.

Abstract :
The authors report a case of left intra-atrial thrombosis in neonatal period after the application of umbilical catheter for neonatal infection. The bad position of the catheter in the heart and the friability of vessels at this age play an important role in the occurrence of intracardiac thromboses. The diagnosis was made at the Doppler echocardiography. The thrombus totally disappeared in two months’ time without any complication. In Africa the application of catheter for neonatal resuscitation is common practice. However this operation is usually performed without monitoring echocardiography to verify the suitable position of the catheter’s end.
